Throughout Greek history, there have been various interesting city-states. Two extremely important poleis are Athens and Sparta. Following studying these poleis it is clear that Athens may be the better stapas because of its federal government, education, and society.

The government in Athens was better then Sparta's government. Following laws had been written down and enforced, power was divided equally in Athens government. In Sparta " the ephors had unlimited power to behave as guardians of the state, plus they used that power freely (112). " This demonstrates in Athens the government was split up equally and in Spartis the government employed power readily and could have got abused that. Not only was your government better, but the education was likewise better.

Athenian education was executed to create free of charge thinkers, when Spartan education focused only on creating strong a warrior. In Athens boys visited school beginning at a age. They will studied various subjects such as grammar, music, gymnastics, poetry, government math concepts and values. All of these themes and others helped male citizens gain the two mental and physical strength. This form of education created smarter, impartial thinkers. Spartan education would not produce strong thinkers. They focused on physical strength to compliment the army. The purpose for school in Sparta was going to strengthen the polis as a Military electricity. Each students was remedied the same and expected to wind up as everyone else. Athenian education allowed people to include a better comprehension of the world. This kind of led to an even more civilized society with many different types of jobs.

Contemporary society in Athens was centered around the persons while Spartan society aimed at strengthening the military. Spartans were not in order to choose what they wanted to do in life.
