I. INTRO
Philippine episode also known as teleserye is a television set form of melodramatic fiction. This came from both the words: " tele, " which is short for " television, " and " serye, " a Tagalog term for " series" and " drama" intended for drama.
Teleseryes share a lot of characteristics and also have similar roots with classic soap plays and telenovelas, yet the teleserye has evolved to a genre having its own unique characteristics, generally working like a reflection in the social realistic look of the Filipinos. Teleseryes are aired in prime-time five days a week, and sometimes replays during weekends. They attract an extensive audience which in turn crosses age and male or female lines, and in addition they command the greatest advertising costs in Filipino television. That they last anywhere by three months to a year, and even longer, depending on its rating.
Teleseryes are produced by ABS-CBN, GMA Network, and TV5. Some of them are co-produced by simply TAPE Inc., Dreamscape Entertainment Television, VIVA Entertainment, GMA Films and Star Theatre.
Other forms of Philippine series include " serials" and " anthologies, " that happen to be usually demonstrated on a each week basis. These types of dramas are usually intended to air a finite number of symptoms usually long-term one period depending on the ratings.
